The identification step matters more than most people expect. BFT keypads look nearly identical across generations, but the wiring is not interchangeable. Signs Your BFT Keypad & Intercom Repair Is Failing

• Buttons need multiple presses before they register. The conductive pads under the keypad membrane have worn through or oxidized, a wear pattern we see a lot in Santa Clarita because the dry heat accelerates the rubber breakdown. The fix is usually a new membrane rather than a whole keypad.

• Water intrusion behind the keypad face. The gasket between the faceplate and the housing has flattened or cracked.
